Arrival in Paro & Transfer to Thimphu

Upon arrival at Paro International Airport via Druk Air or Bhutan Airlines, you will be greeted with a warm traditional welcome by your local Bhutanese guide. Begin your journey with a scenic drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan, which takes approximately 1.5 hours. En route, stop at Tamchog Lhakhang to admire its ancient iron suspension bridge built by the great engineer Thangtong Gyalpo. On arrival in Thimphu, check in to your hotel and relax. In the evening, take a leisure walk through Thimphu’s charming streets. Overnight stay in Thimphu.

Explore Thimphu

After breakfast, start your sightseeing with a visit to the massive Buddha Dordenma Statue, which offers sweeping views of the Thimphu Valley. Then explore the Folk Heritage Museum and the Textile Museum to learn about Bhutan's rich cultural heritage. Proceed to Tashichho Dzong, a majestic fortress housing the King’s office and government ministries. If time permits, browse local handicrafts at the bazaar or shop for local produce at the Centenary Farmers Market (if open). A cultural performance can be arranged upon request. Overnight stay in Thimphu.

Thimphu to Punakha via Dochula Pass

Today, enjoy a scenic drive to Punakha, taking about 2.5 to 3 hours. Stop at Dochula Pass (3,100 meters), which offers a spectacular 360-degree view of the Himalayan mountain ranges and is adorned with 108 memorial chortens. En route, visit Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the Fertility Temple, dedicated to the Divine Madman, Lama Drukpa Kunley. In Punakha, explore the impressive Punakha Dzong, an architectural masterpiece located at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. Overnight stay in Punakha.

Day Excursion to Phobjikha Valley

After an early breakfast, embark on a day excursion to the scenic Phobjikha Valley, a journey of approximately 2.5 hours each way. Visit the peaceful Gangtey Monastery, an important center for Nyingma Buddhism. Then enjoy a nature walk along the Gangtey Trail through pine forests and open meadows in the glacial valley, home to the rare black-necked cranes in winter. Interact with locals and soak in the serene landscape before returning to Punakha in the evening. Overnight stay in Punakha.

Punakha to Paro

After breakfast, depart for Paro on a relaxed 4.5-hour drive. En route, stop to visit Simtokha Dzong, Bhutan’s oldest fortress and a center for learning. Upon arrival in Paro, check in to your hotel and enjoy a peaceful evening walk around Paro town, known for its traditional architecture and quiet charm. Overnight stay in Paro.

Hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest)

Today is the highlight of your trip—a hike to the legendary Taktsang Monastery, famously known as the Tiger’s Nest. The trek takes around 4 to 5 hours round trip, offering stunning views of the monastery clinging to a cliffside and the lush Paro Valley below. Learn about the fascinating legend of Guru Rinpoche, who meditated here in the 8th century. Enjoy lunch at the Taktsang Cafeteria midway through your hike. In the afternoon, you may choose to unwind with an optional traditional hot stone bath experience. Overnight stay in Paro.

Departure from Paro

After breakfast, check out and transfer to Paro International Airport for your departure flight. Bid farewell to the Land of the Thunder Dragon with beautiful memories and spiritual inspiration.
